The Fisherman's Scarf

The sea is my one true love. There is nothing more beautiful than the smell of salt sea air and crisp October days or the coarse hands of an experienced fisherman. When you miss the sea, you feel it in your bones, and that longing inspired this fish-net scarf. The workings of this scarf are similar to that of an infinity scarf, but it can also be worn more closely to the neck like a cowl. This pattern uses a variation of chain stitches and slip stitches and is pretty easy to follow. You can find the pattern in my Ravelry store here: buy now

Enjoy! :)

Crocodile Clutch

Hunting for the perfect last-minute Mother's Day gift? Or maybe just looking for something pretty to make over the weekend? Look no further! The Crocodile Clutch is designed to be both a bit of a challenge and a fun gift! (For those of you who sew, this bag looks great lined and with a zipper!) This pattern makes use of the crocodile stitch, but if you are not familiar with it, no worries! This pattern works you through it step by step. It also includes a chart for the front design and pattern for removable strap.

Big hugs and lots of thanks to my testers, Sandra, Brook, and Deanna, and to my model, Rachel! ;-)

Elegant Wrist Warmers

Its been a bit nippy outside lately, and my hands easily get cold when I'm typing or playing the piano (or crocheting!). So I made these elegant little wrist warmers to keep out the chill! These are easy and fast and are great for unpredictable fall weather.

Sunflower Coasters

Last night while watching a movie I wanted to keep my hands busy, so I came up with these sweet little sunflower coasters. I decided to give them to my mom; her kitchen is sunflower-themed and she loves yellow and blue.

Note: this pattern uses treble crochet (tr) and double treble crochet (dtr). If you are unfamiliar with these stitches, you can find great tutorials here: http://www.stitchdiva.com/custom.aspx?id=53. But don't be intimidated; these stitches are fairly easy, and you will be surprised how similar they are to a double crochet stitch!

Lacy Shell Doll Dress

Here's my big "ta-da!" for the week. The doll dress! I stayed up till 3 in the morning last night making this one, and my finger is sore and being iced right now from so much work. But its worth it! This dress has been immensely popular over the past few months, and you can find it below in my ravelry shop. Enjoy!

Vannah modeling the dress for me;-)
And of course, the Fat Cat couldn't stay out of the picture!

Shell Stitch Scarf

I made a shell scarf with some extra yarn I found a couple of days ago. All thanks to the Fat Cat who was somewhat willing to model it for me. ;-)
Below are instructions for the shell stitch. To start out, your chain must be a multiple of 6. For my scarf, I chained 12. Shell is alot like the crazy stitch, only for the crazy stich, you chain a multiple of 4. (FYI, I chained 12 for both scarves)

Flower Squares Hat

When I'm stressed out, I crochet. I crochet like mad. This week was one of the worst weeks of my life, so I dug out this complicated crochet square hat pattern which I had scrounged off the back of a Red-Hearts label. Finished in a day and a half, its absolutely one of the most beautiful and most complicated hats I have ever made. It took me a while to find an online version of this pattern. Enjoy this hat, made of 5 flowery, delicate squares!

Roses

My mom is turning 50 on Sunday, so I decided to give her a boquet of roses... crocheted roses!

I found this incredibly easy pattern, feel free to use. The only extra things you need besides your hook and yarn are pipe cleaners for the stem, and a yarn needle. My yarn needle is currently out of order, so I stitched up my roses with needle and thread instead.

Enjoy! This pattern was a lot of fun, and I was suprised at how easy it was.

Enjoy! ;-)

Crazy Stitch Scarf

I love this amazing stitch! Also called the brick stitch and the crazy shell. Its a bit like the shell stitch, with a wild and fun look to it. If you are doing it right, notice that in one row the "bricks" lean one way, and in the next they lean the other way...etc. Cool!

Here's a pic of a crazy-stitch scarf I am making, and the link to the pattern I used.
