Here's my big "ta-da!" for the week. The doll dress! I stayed up till 3 in the morning last night making this one, and my finger is sore and being iced right now from so much work. But its worth it! This dress has been immensely popular over the past few months, and you can find it below in my ravelry shop. Enjoy!
And of course, the Fat Cat couldn't stay out of the picture!
Cute dress! If you look at row 6, do you mean "sk 10 or sc 10"? I'd like to make the pattern and i'm not a great crocheter, so t his is confusing me.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Carolknits
Hi Carolknits, in Row 6 "sk" means "skip". Should have made that clearer. Thanks for asking!
ReplyDeleteYou should make this pattern as a toddler dress.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! What yarn and size hook did you use?
ReplyDeleteDiane, this pattern uses medium worsted (I used white Red Heart) and a G hook. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tennyemaye! I'm going to make this my next project. Can't wait to get started.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how it turns out, Diane! I'd love to see a picture of the finished project. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI am making this for my daughter's doll. I am only 9 rows in. My question is this, do you sew up the sleeves at all?
ReplyDelete-Alison
Hello again Tennyemaye...I'm just getting started. Is this pattern worked from bottom to top or top to bottom. I'm assuming top to bottom because the 26 ch at the beginning does not seem wide enough for the bottom of the dress. I just need to picture in my head what I'm doing before I start.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Diane
PS I'm using the same yarn and hook size you did so the sizing should be the same
You're right, Diane! It works from top to bottom. Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteAlison- no, the sleeves do not need to be sewn on. When you first start the pattern, you will find yourself making a zig zag pattern, which is the beginning of the sleeves. In Row 6, the sleeves are actually formed by skipping stitches.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps!
Hi Tenyemaye,
ReplyDeleteI finished the dress today and I'm happy with how it came out. I added some little flowers around the neckline. I'm going to make another one! It works up so quick. I don't think there is a way here to send a picture but I'd be happy to if you can tell me how. Thanks for your hard work on making the pattern and for your help.
Diane
Diane! I am so glad you have had success with the dress! You can send me a picture at tennyemaye@gmail.com if you like. I would love to see how it turned out! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou have such cute dresses for 18" dolls! Thank you so much for sharing. My niece received her first AG doll, but doesn't have many things to go with it. She's asked me to make her some dolly clothes. This is FIRST on the list! :) Going to start it right now.
ReplyDeleteAny chance you could give me some measurements for this dress? I want to make it for my friend's daughter's doll but I've never seen the doll and I can't use the same wool you did so i'd like to check I'm making it roughly the right size and that it will fit over the doll's head! Thanks very much!
ReplyDeleteThe head hole for this dress is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter with the buttons closed. However, this pattern is designed with buttons on the back. That way, you can unbutton the dress and have lots of room to put it on the doll before fastening the buttons in the back.
ReplyDeleteThis pattern is for 18" dolls. Do you know what size your friend's daughter's doll is? This might give you a rough idea of if the dress will fit.
Thanks! Hope this helps!
Hi Tenneyemaye,
ReplyDeleteThanks for a lovely pattern, I plan to make this dress for my granddaughter's doll. Can you verify that Row 1 ends without Chain 3, turn?
Kathy
What size hook and yarn are you using?
ReplyDeleteThis pattern uses medium worsted (I used white Red Heart for this particular dress) and a G (4.25 MM) hook.
ReplyDeleteHi. I just stumbled over Raverly last week and love it. I made a really cute Hippie outfit for my daughters American Girl Doll. Raverly has to really cute things. My only complaint is why isn't this a download? I understand you don't want your pattern reproduced but who really crochets with their computer right next to them. I myselft like to crochet in bed or watching tv. I find it impossible to crochet your patterns. Which I love all the AGD outfits. =)
ReplyDeleteDoes row 1 end with ch3, turn?
ReplyDeleteYes, row 1 ends in a ch 3 turn. Looks like I forgot to put that in the pattern. I will change that. Thanks for pointing it out!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, in answer to your comment- I'm very sorry for the inconvenience of not yet having having my patterns as downloads. If you would like to print the pattern, you can go to the pattern page, right click, select "print" and choose which pages you would like to print. Another option would be to copy and paste the pattern onto a document and print it from there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your concern. I personally do like to crochet next to my computer, so its good to have input and know that not everyone does. I will work on making it better in the future. ;-)
This is a really cute dress and works up so quickly. Thanks for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to try and make this for my daughter, but I am a little confused. In row 2 when you say "dc4" does that mean dc4 in one stich? I run out of stitches at the end for the "dc5" I know it sounds silly, but I am just going on what my grandmother taught me when I was little. This is gorgeous, I hope I can firgure it out.
ReplyDeleteIn row 7, I ended with 3DC in last stitch. Is that correct? When I start row 8, it doesn't look like it's starting correctly....thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy comment is the same as person above, only got to row 2 and was confused about the directions. I also ran out of stitches at the end for the dc5
ReplyDeleteHi, this pattern is cute and I understand all directions,EXCEPT,for Row 12-16. I understand dc in the middle 3 of each shell, but I am confused with 5 dc in third regular dc. Can you please explain that last part? thx.
ReplyDeleteI am new to making doll clothes...it would be very helpful to me if you would add to the end of each row how many stitches should be in each row so that I can make sure I am correct on the pattern. thanks
ReplyDeleteWant to start this pattern but wld like to know how much yarn required for one dress?
